Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Google+ Share on Pinterest Share on Linkedin Amazon ran into bit of a woe on Wednesday, when the company`s Canadian storefront was found selling doormats with Indian National Flag on it. A Twitter user named Atul Bhobe pointed this out to India’s Minister of External Affairs, Sushma Swaraj, who demanded that Amazon – which ranks among the largest eCommerce retailers in the country – apologize immediately and remove the offensive product from its store, or potentially risk its foreign employees in India losing their visas. Here are some of the tweets done by our Minister of External Affairs: Indian High Commission in Canada : This is unacceptable. Please take this up with Amazon at the highest level. https://t.co/L4yI3gLk3h — Sushma Swaraj (@SushmaSwaraj) January 11, 2017 Amazon must tender unconditional apology. They must withdraw all products insulting our national flag immediately. /1 — Sushma Swaraj (@SushmaSwaraj) January 11, 2017 If this is not done forthwith, we will not grant Indian Visa to any Amazon official. We will also rescind the Visas issued earlier. — Sushma Swaraj (@SushmaSwaraj) January 11, 2017 It is to be noted that Amazon has lot of other countries doormats while the they have to face a harsh ultimatum with Indian flag sale. Since In India desecration of flag is a punishable offense so Sushma Swaraj as an External Affair minister has shown her respect for the national symbols. Her last tweet by the way got too harsh and is being offended enough reason to threaten to cancel visas and disrupt a company’s business? People are giving mixed replies on the tweet and their views on this situation but anyhow Amazon seems to have removed the relevant products from its database now and ready to apologize for the same.
